    • No array found
    • No such device
    • Please insert boot device and press a key
    • SCSI ID's #,# are not present

Common Reasons for Failure

Due to the variety of RAID arrays, SANs and NAS devices; there can be many ways a system may fail. Some arrays can handle certain failures, while other arrays cannot. Some typical failures are:

  • One or more drives in the array fail.
  • Unexpected power outage, or unexpected power down of the server.
  • RAID Controller card failure.
  • RAID Controller firmware bug.
  • Timing/firmware issues between drives in the array.
  • Type of data stored on array.
  • User mistake, such as accidentally initializing the array.

Recoverable Types of RAID Arrays

There are many different types and combinations of RAID arrays. The most common are listed below:

  • RAID levels: 0,1,3,5,6,10,20,50
  • RAID with hot spare.
  • RAID hot swappable.

Recoverable Interface Types -IDE, EIDE, SCSI, SATA, SAS, or Fibre Channel

How LWG Can Help

LWG Data Recovery can assist you in the advent of a major array failing. We have experience with all major manufacturers. Below is our Array recovery process:

  1. Determine what data has to be recovered
  2. Examine the failed array
  3. Determine what failed
  4. Make necessary repairs to the array
  5. Determine raid settings
  6. Rebuild array
  7. Extract data
  8. Return data to client

The type of RAID, number of drives and mode of failure, all play a part in determining the correct method to recover your data. If a controller card fails we can 'virtually' rebuild the Raid and extract the data. If a hard drive fails we can repair the drive or drives in one of our three clean rooms and then virtually rebuild the raid. No matter what the cause we have a solution.

Testimonials

"I found LWG over the internet and needed their services when my hard drive crashed. A computer retailer told me no data was found, but I could try a data recovery company. LWG met me on Saturday, worked on my problem, and recovered ALL data that was lost. My past six months were gone until LWG fixed my problem. If I ever have a hard drive crash in the future, LWG is the only call I will make. Their pricing is very fair and their services are fast. THANK YOU."
